StoryGraph, a Goodreads alternative with over 5 million users, has launched a live integration with Rakuten's Kobo eReaders. The integration automatically syncs reading progress from any Kobo device or app to a user's StoryGraph account, marking books as read and keeping stats current for both ebooks and audiobooks. This makes Kobo the first eReader to integrate with StoryGraph, giving the platform access to Kobo's 12 million users across 190 countries. The move challenges Amazon's Kindle-Goodreads ecosystem, which has long retained readers by combining device integration with a social reading community. The integration is free, though StoryGraph offers a $5/month Plus tier for deeper analytics.
