Waymo has issued a software recall affecting nearly 4,000 robotaxis after vehicles failed to stop on flooded roads, instead only slowing down. The recall was triggered by incidents in central Texas, including one where an empty robotaxi was swept away in San Antonio. The initial software update adds restrictions in areas with elevated flood risk on higher-speed roads, but Waymo says a 'final remedy' is still in development. This is one of several recalls Waymo has issued, following previous incidents involving crashes with towed vehicles, parking gates, telephone poles, and illegal behavior near school buses.
