# We Need To Talk About The Vibe Coding Pandemic...

**[CodeHead](https://daily.dev/sources/codehead)** · 5 min read · 135 upvotes · 9 comments

## Summary

Vibe coding, coined by Andrej Karpathy in February 2025, has rapidly transformed software development. By end of 2025, 92% of US developers used AI coding tools daily and 41% of all code was AI-generated. Junior developer job openings dropped 67-46%, while senior developers (35-49) saw employment rise 9%. The real danger is a 'new tutorial hell' where junior devs ship code without understanding it, widening the skill gap. Security risks are severe: AI-assisted commits leak secrets at twice the rate of human code, GitGuardian found 28.65 million hard-coded secrets on GitHub (up 34%), and over 10% of apps on Lovable shipped with vulnerabilities exposing user data. 63% of vibe coders are non-developers, raising questions about who is accountable for what gets shipped. The post is sponsored by TryHackMe, which offers an AI security learning path.

> Yikes, I'm scared for the time where we need more senior devs and their are no junior devs because guessed what, no one trained them!

> This just stresses the point that not all people are meant to be developers/engineers. I guess AI companies are squeezing out revenue as much as they can before the majority of the world catches up that AGI is still far (or impossible given the Earth's limited resources).
>
> And if they do achieve AGI, then good luck to us folks. The gap between the rich and the poor will be its widest ever (the middle class is gone and obliterated).
