# We tested Cursor Origin and here’s the verdict

## Summary

Cursor's new git hosting product, Origin, gets an engineer's hands-on review covering its early beta feature set: repository hosting, code browsing, pull requests, GitHub mirroring, and native cloud agent support. The reviewer finds the core git workflow functional but rough around the edges, missing public repos, CI/CD, Issues, Discussions, and polish. The strongest case for Origin is tight integration between agents, repos, and automations rather than the git hosting itself, and the verdict is to try it as a mirror for now rather than migrate a production workflow onto it.

> GitHub will absolutely respond to this with similar features. Honestly, the idea of a defensible moat right now is shaky unless the effort to build one is significant. This isn't a feature gap GitHub can't close natively.

> I’m interested in seeing where AI-first browsers go. I already spend a huge amount of development time jumping between the browser, code, documentation, and AI, so bringing some of that together could actually be useful. The real test for me would be whether it genuinely speeds up my workflow or just gives me another AI feature to manage.
