The Fedora Anaconda installer team is building a web-based remote installation feature that lets users control the installer from a remote browser over HTTPS, replacing VNC/RDP for headless servers and ARM SBCs. Built on Cockpit tooling, it uses PIN-based authentication, self-signed TLS certificates, and enforces single-session connections. A proof-of-concept is available on GitHub with a draft PR, though it's not production-ready. The team is seeking community feedback on design decisions — including whether to ship a lightweight headless ISO with remote installation enabled by default — before the feature is finalized.
