Most days I use Git without ever thinking about it. I accept it as truth, like brushing my teeth twice a day, drinking water when I’m thirsty, apples falling from trees, y’know.
I had a shower and thought, what’s missing?
Here are a few (wild) things I really wish Git would include.

<li>I wish there was a way to use Git like autosave. I forget to push when switching devices sometimes.</li>
<li>I wish Git was more useful as a dependency manager. Like NPM is nice, composer is fine, I don’t like Gradle, but in all these cases for simple projects, I wish Git would suffice.</li>
<li>I wish there was a way to configure a wizard for people pulling a repo. This is useful for huge mono repo, but also enables interesting boilerplate usages.</li>
<li>I wish there was a way to announce the changes you’ve made so that when people pull or change specific files, they get reminded of them.</li>

I feel like autosave would be a useful feature but dependency management doesn’t feel like something I would expect from a version control.

There is - githooks.
To remind people to do something when pulling a specific file, create a <code>post-merge</code> githook, and do something like:

Gitkraken has the “cloud patch” feature now that, while not auto, allows you to stash changes to the cloud really quickly without needing to commit and push. Maybe that’s a feature that could be leveraged to periodically autosave. Worth a feature request I reckon.
