# What Is Flipper One?

**[David Bombal](https://daily.dev/sources/davidbombal)** · 2 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

The Flipper Zero team has announced Flipper One, a new device rebuilt from scratch that goes beyond the original's offline access tools. Unlike the Flipper Zero, Flipper One is a network-connected Linux platform featuring 5G/satellite modems, Wi-Fi 6E, dual Ethernet, VPN, SDR radio, GPIO ports, PCIe expansion cards, and enough compute for local AI. The team's core goal is a fully open hardware platform with mainline Linux kernel support, no binary blobs or proprietary drivers. They've launched a public developer portal and wiki where anyone can contribute to hardware, firmware, UI, and other sub-projects.
