## Questions this post answers

### What new features does Astro 7.2 add?

Astro 7.2 introduces experimental incremental static builds, a background mode for the astro preview command, and relative logger entrypoints, among other improvements. It is a minor release building on the Astro 7 line, aimed at speeding up build workflows and giving developers more control over preview server behavior.

### What is the Astro Playground and how does it work?

The Astro Playground is a browser-based tool for writing and testing Astro components without creating a full project, built by Emanuele Stoppa. Each session spins up its own real Astro Compiler instance inside a Dynamic Worker, so the output matches exactly what running the compiler locally would produce, and its UI is built with Svelte.

> incremental static builds are the one Astro's been missing forever, curious if it does file-level invalidation or if you still eat a full rebuild on partial content changes. Next's ISR gets this mostly right per-route but astro's island architecture makes the granularity question more interesting.

> Try starting with the Playground before cloning an Astro starter. I trust a sandbox much more when it runs the same compiler as a local project.
