## Summary

Gutenberg 24.1 ships roughly 140 PRs focused on design tool consistency, extending background image/gradient, shadow, border, color, typography, and text-column controls to nearly every core block. A new text-shadow control debuts alongside expanded theme.json support for text shadows in the Paragraph and Heading blocks. The Cover and Media & Text blocks gain a media selection panel matching Image and Site Logo. Other highlights include pattern modal category filtering and search, template descriptions in the Add Template modal, parent selectors for blocks inside patterns, clearer alignment menu states, per-viewport position controls, and completion of the icon stroke redraw (238 icons converted). The changelog also lists numerous component migrations (Emotion to SCSS modules, deprecations of Divider/ResponsiveWrapper/Scrollable/ZStack), bug fixes across blocks and the editor, accessibility and performance improvements, documentation updates, and tooling changes including a Vitest migration and dependency upgrades (React 19.3.0, Base UI 1.8.0, Ariakit 0.4.39).
