When hiring software testers doesn't work (and what to do BEFORE you hire them)

This title could be clearer and more informative.Try out Clickbait Shieldfor free (5 uses left this month).

Hiring software testers often fails because organizations hire reactively to fix symptoms rather than addressing root causes. Teams frequently expect testers to solve quality problems without giving them authority to influence decisions that affect quality. Successful tester hires require organizational readiness to hear uncomfortable truths, clear problem identification, realistic expectations, and empowering testers to influence requirements and processes. Sometimes teams with quality-minded developers and simple products don't need dedicated testers at all.
