Who writes the code when machines write the code? Andrey Breslav at Codemotion Milan 2026

Andrey Breslav, creator of Kotlin and founder of CodeSpeak, has been announced as the opening keynote speaker for Codemotion Milan 2026. His talk, 'Future of Programming: What's our place in the world of coding machines?', will explore where human developers stand as AI agents increasingly generate code. Drawing on his decade leading Kotlin's development and his current work building a spec-based AI coding platform, Breslav will address whether agents can handle planning, coding, review, and testing autonomously, what humans uniquely bring that LLMs cannot replicate, and where developers should invest their skills as the field shifts. The talk is framed around a technical critique of LLMs — their lack of an internal correctness model, domain understanding, and persistent memory — and how structured specifications can address these gaps.
