# Why Design Gets Compressed in Delivery Projects

**[Medium](https://daily.dev/sources/medium_js)** · 4 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Design gets compressed in delivery projects not because organizations devalue it, but because different teams optimize for different risks — business for delivery risk, developers for implementation risk, PMs for schedule risk, and designers for user risk. These goals don't always align, making design one of the most flexible parts of the process when trade-offs are needed. The author argues that instead of defending the UX process, designers should focus on demonstrating value by helping teams make better decisions, building trust project by project, and making UX indispensable enough that teams want it involved earlier.
