Lately, I've been asking myself why people in the IT industry seem to hate everything new. I'm obviously not talking about everyone, but after reading countless comments, I've noticed a pattern: whenever a new technology appears—whether it's AI today or other technologies and frameworks in the past—many IT professionals immediately start hating it. Then, over time, those same technologies become part of our everyday lives, and everyone ends up using them.

I've been thinking about this a lot, and I started to realize something.

Considering that I have 25 years of experience in software development, I was there near the beginning of the rapid acceleration of the IT industry. Maybe not at the absolute beginning, but certainly at the beginning of the major technological growth that we've all witnessed.

When Java was released, people criticized it for consuming too much memory and being too slow. Yet the technology continued to evolve, improved significantly, and eventually reached excellent performance.

Then JavaScript applications in the browser became popular. Developers who were writing Java applets also criticized them.

Later, full-fledged frameworks like Node.js appeared, where frontend developers could also build backend applications. Once again, many people argued that the performance would never be enough and that only traditional architectures built with older tools were the right approach.

Now AI has arrived, and once again, many people are hating it.

I think this happens because many people don't fully realize what kind of industry they work in. This is an industry where accepting new ideas is one of the most important skills. Not just accepting them, but studying them carefully, looking far ahead, and understanding what they might eventually become. It's about constantly searching for opportunities to use new tools to make development faster and more efficient.

Today, I often see people criticizing AI because it generates code that is difficult for humans to understand. But let's ask ourselves: in ten years, will humans even need to understand that code directly if they can simply describe what they want in natural language?

Yes, AI is still in the early stages of its development, and perhaps today it doesn't provide tools that allow you to open the generated source code and view it as a clear English-language description. But I think that's exactly where we're heading.

After all, when C++ was created, it was already much closer to human language than assembly language. And assembly itself was much closer to human language than raw machine code.

I remember when I was studying at university, my computer science professor, who was already quite elderly, insisted that every good C programmer absolutely had to learn assembly language.

Maybe he was right—but only in certain situations. For example, when you're building software that directly interacts with hardware, understanding assembly can be extremely valuable.

But if you're building application software that primarily interacts with users, why spend your time dealing with problems that have already been solved?

Yes, if I'm designing a rocket engine, I'll probably need to understand metallurgy and chemistry because I need to know how the engine will survive those temperatures.

But if I'm building a bicycle, a car, or just another machine, I don't need to understand the chemistry of metals.

I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
