# Why Python is The 1st Language

## Summary

Python was created by Guido van Rossum, a Dutch programmer working at a research institute in the 1980s. Driven by values like explicitness, simplicity and readability, Python is among the most popular languages in the world. In this article I'm going to try to find out and explain why Python has become much more successful than other, similar languages.
