Windows 11 is finally getting a movable taskbar, and it only took Microsoft five years

Microsoft has officially announced that Windows 11 will finally support a movable taskbar, a feature absent since the OS launched in 2021. The delay stemmed from a full taskbar rewrite in modern code, which made repositioning technically complex due to app layout re-flow requirements. The feature has been elevated to Priority 0 (P0) status, signaling it is now mission-critical. Beyond the taskbar, Microsoft is also phasing out web-wrapper apps in favor of native performance and scaling back the forced Copilot integration to workflows where it genuinely adds value.
