Wiper malware targeted Poland energy grid, but failed to knock out electricity

Poland's electric grid was targeted by wiper malware in late December, likely deployed by Russian state-sponsored hacker group Sandworm. The attack aimed to disrupt communications between renewable installations and power distribution operators but failed to cause any electricity outages. Security firm ESET attributed the attack to Sandworm based on tactics and techniques matching previous operations, including the 2015 Ukraine blackout that left 230,000 people without power.
