Microsoft has released WSL containers in public preview, enabling native container support within the Windows Subsystem for Linux without requiring third-party tools like Docker. The feature introduces a new wslc.exe binary and a NuGet-based container API supporting C, C++, and C#, with MSBuild and CMake integration. Windows apps can interact with WSL containers as part of their build and deployment workflows. The preview build is available on the WSL GitHub page, with containers expected to become a core WSL feature over time.

Is it like <code>containers</code> for windows? Similar to docker in linux, but this is not a container but basically a VM with linux?
I think problem comes from the original implementation when you couldn’t create more than one WSL instance with the same name.

on Windows activating wsl and installing docker is a messy job. I hope the wsl container help it out

This will surely minimize the Windows setup for deployment.
It looks great!
But most of developers are already accustomed to the docker, and I think it is mostly useful for the dedicated Windows developers like MS Visual Studio developers.
I want to learn about how it would be helpful for web developers who use VS Code + Git Bash environment?
