The move is aimed at encouraging creators to produce original content rather than reposting stolen material. X's head of product acknowledged that many top accounts share recycled content, sometimes years after it originally went viral. However, analysts note that a video editor alone won't solve the problem — X still lacks robust content protection tools comparable to Meta or YouTube, and its bot problem remains significant, with the platform suspending over 200 bots per minute. Videos already account for nearly half of all impressions on X, making creator tools a strategic priority.
