# You are falling behind because you haven’t fed the insincerity machine in the last 5 minutes

**[Christian Heilmann](https://daily.dev/sources/christianheilmann)** · 4 min read · 5 upvotes · 1 comments

## Summary

A developer relations professional reflects on the rise of AI-powered social media automation tools that mimic a person's voice to post and comment on their behalf. The author argues this strips away the human and social elements that made social media valuable, drawing on personal experience running a 200k+ newsletter and podcast. The post criticizes the trend of using AI to manufacture a social presence, comparing it to sending a body double to public appearances, and urges people to only show up online when they genuinely can.

> This basically answers the question "How do people post so frequently, comment so frequently and do so much, while still having a regular schedule of work?". They don't - that's the answer. 😁 Social media is not about being present and voicing your opinion anymore. It's a numbers game.
