The argument is that paying per token creates natural discipline around when and how to use AI models, encouraging more deliberate prompt engineering, better model selection, and a healthier balance between personal skill and AI delegation. ## Content I get a LOT of questions from developers about how I balance AI usage while maintaining my edge (and enjoyment of the work). My advice: convert to token based billing, the credit system will keep you honest. Knowing I am paying for each request requires me to be very measured and surgical about what I am using the models for, which models are the best for the task, and ensuring I am structuring my requests for maximum dividends. I find its a lovely way to balance my technical knowledge, while knowing I can delegate something if needed, and taking the proper steps to delegate effectively, as well.
