Security researchers discovered critical vulnerabilities in Google's Fast Pair Bluetooth protocol affecting 17 models of headphones and speakers from brands like Sony. The "Whisper Pair" attack allows hackers to forcibly pair with devices without user authentication within 14 feet, enabling device tracking via Google's Find Hub network, audio eavesdropping through microphones, and remote control of volume settings. The flaw affects hundreds of millions of users, including those outside the Android ecosystem, since Fast Pair functionality cannot be disabled. Researchers have withheld exploit code to protect users while patches are developed.
