Your motherboard's USB header can run way more than just front panel ports

Motherboard internal USB headers aren't just for front panel ports — they can also power fan controllers, lighting hubs, AIO pump controllers, card readers, internal displays, Wi-Fi modules, and more. USB 2.0, USB 3.x, and USB-C headers use different physical connectors and offer different bandwidth levels, so compatibility must be checked before buying accessories. Adding an internal USB hub or splitter adapter lets multiple devices share a single header, though total bandwidth remains limited by the motherboard. High-bandwidth devices like capture cards or external storage are better served by rear I/O ports or PCIe expansion cards.
