By default, routers give every device equal transmission opportunities, causing older/slower devices to hog airtime and create latency for faster devices. Airtime fairness switches to equal airtime slices instead, letting high-speed devices transmit more data without waiting behind legacy hardware. The setting is usually found in advanced wireless settings and can be combined with QoS for further optimization.
