# Your TV's default picture settings are ruining every movie you watch

## Summary

Default TV picture settings are optimized for showroom appeal, not home viewing. The two most impactful changes are disabling motion smoothing (which makes films look like soap operas by inserting fake frames) and switching off Vivid/Dynamic color modes (which oversaturate colors and hurt accuracy). Enabling Filmmaker Mode, where available, handles both at once by applying director-approved defaults that disable post-processing and deliver a more cinematic, accurate image.
