VMs provide strong security isolation (no shared kernel), resource efficiency, and service continuity that containers cannot replicate. The real conversation is not VMs vs. containers but how to manage both together. VMware's VCF and Tanzu are highlighted as examples of platforms designed for this hybrid reality. Roughly 70% of enterprise workloads remain non-containerized, and organizations that build integrated approaches to orchestrating both VMs and containers will be best positioned going forward.
