Free Alternatives to Heroku
Heroku has brought an end to free dynos and Postgres databases. Other free platforms can be used to host Django (Python) powered web applications for free. Fly and Render seems to offer Postgres on a free plan. Railway doesn't have a free tier, but basic usage is quite cheap.

From November 28, 2022 this FREE tier will no longer be available. The only real downsides are not enabling a custom domain and slower cold starts. If you are currently using a free tier, you will need to upgrade to a paid plan before that date.

Moving servers closer to end-users is also a physical approach towards latency optimization. The longer your pages take to load, the more likely users will bounce. You can test this for yourself with a VPN.
