Apparently Indie devs are NOT dead?

Steam's recent store page redesign replaced the 'Popular Upcoming' section with a personalized calendar, initially alarming indie developers who relied on the 7,000 wishlist threshold to appear there. Early data from multiple sources suggests the change is actually beneficial: games are seeing dramatically higher wishlists per day, the personalized calendar has a 33% clickthrough rate (far higher than the old feature), and games remain visible on the calendar for about a month after launch rather than being removed immediately. The 7,000 wishlist goal remains a reasonable target, and the old meta (early Steam page, demo ASAP, setting a release date early) still applies. A new tip: set your official release date as early as possible since the calendar shows games up to two months in advance, giving free visibility that most developers are currently missing.
