Claude Code's June 2026 CLI release (v2026.6) ships 10 new features extending it from a single-agent tool to a multi-agent orchestration platform. Key additions include: nested sub-agents up to 3 levels deep for hierarchical task decomposition, fallbackModel chains for resilience against rate limits and outages, a community tool marketplace, per-agent usage attribution and cost tracking, scoped permissions enforcing least privilege, streaming structured JSON logs, agent checkpointing for pause/resume of long-running tasks, inline cost budgets per agent, reusable custom agent templates, and multi-repo orchestration. Three features (streaming logs, checkpointing, multi-repo) remain in beta. The article provides YAML/JSON configuration examples for each feature and a combined full-configuration reference.
