Santa Ragione's surreal horror game Horses has sold 30,000 copies and generated $100,000 in revenue after being banned from Steam and the Epic Games Store. Of that revenue, $30k went to the game's director, $62k to private investors (covering their $50k investment plus a return), leaving only $8k for the studio — not enough to start a new project but a step toward recouping their $50k in development costs. The game ultimately launched on Itch.io, GOG, and Humble Store, won multiple awards including the 2026 IGF Nuovo Award, and received its final update this week adding six language localizations. The studio continues to speak out against what it calls moralizing censorship by platform gatekeepers.
