Around 50% of id Software employees — over 90 people — have reportedly been laid off as part of Xbox's broader restructuring that eliminates 3,200 roles across its video game division. The studio's QA department was particularly hard hit. Bethesda president Jill Braff confirmed in an internal email that the company is shifting focus to its strongest franchises: Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein, Doom, and Quake. No studios are being shuttered, but the reorganization marks a significant structural change for ZeniMax-owned studios.
