Epic Games has outlined its roadmap for Unreal Engine 6, which will unify UE and UEFN into a single engine. Key pillars include a new gameplay framework called Scene Graph built on Verse, a next-generation programming language with software transactional memory that enables distributed multi-server game worlds without custom networking code. UE6 also introduces portable content standards, starting with Fortnite cosmetics as an interoperability proof-of-concept, aiming for cross-game asset ecosystems. Additionally, AI and LLM tooling via MCP protocol will be deeply integrated to accelerate content creation, with support for bring-your-own models alongside an improved Epic Developer Assistant.
