Telltale CEO Jamie Ottilie details the turbulent development of The Wolf Among Us 2, which was revealed at Summer Game Fest after nearly a decade. The game underwent a full technical reset after an attempt to combine the Telltale Tool with Unreal Engine 4 failed, partly due to COVID disruptions. The team scrapped years of work and rebuilt on Unreal Engine 5 in partnership with Argentine studio Trick Studios. A remaster of the original game was also announced for Holiday 2026, while the sequel targets a vague 2027 window. Ottilie outlines a new, measured approach for Telltale: sequential releases every two to three years, a possible shift to simultaneous episode drops rather than staggered releases, and a desire to own more of the IP it develops.
